NEW DELHI: The Indian government has convened a crucial all-party meeting on Thursday, May 8, at 11 AM in New Delhi, to discuss and inform the Opposition on the details and developments regarding Operation Sindoor-a military campaign by the Indian Armed Forces against bases and infrastructure inside Pakistan.
The operation, viewed as a retaliatory strike, is being regarded as an important event in India’s defense posture against cross-border terrorism. According to government sources, similar information will be passed to all political parties about the military operation to maintain national unity during a sensitive phase.
However, the Congress party has asked for the active participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh, the Prime Minister had not attended a similar meeting on April 24, and he insisted that Modi should be personally present at the session on Thursday. "This is a matter of national security and unity," Ramesh said to PTI.
Modi's call to be present highlights the political impact of the situation and the need for transparent leadership. The meeting in question will discuss the strategic objectives, possible repercussions, and future defense planning.
